What Makes Carbon Magnetic?
Official Title & Budget
Parco Area delle Scienze, 7a
43100 Parma, ITALY
- Molecule-sized magnets made from carbon – and therefore bio-compatible – could result from the FERROCARBON project.
- Magnetic carbon is a recent phenomenon that has upset current theories and has the potential to impact on a wide range of technologies from sensors and data storage to medical applications. The project will protect and extend Europe's leading position in this new science.
- A combined theoretical and experimental approach will be used to achieve the challenge of a single phase bulk carbon magnet.
